"We Start from the Heart"
Berkeley Hills Preschool is a nonprofit, private organization.
We have been helping children to take those first important
steps in their formal education for over 25 years. Berkeley
Hills Preschool admits students of any race, color, religion,
and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges,
programs, and activities generally accorded or made available
to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis
of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration
of its educational policies, admissions policies or other school
administered programs. Our preschool is governed by a ten-member
volunteer board composed of parents and church members. We are
located in the Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church, 517 Sangree Road,
Pittsburgh, PA 15237 in the North Hills. |

A Developmental Preschool
We are unique because of our Free Choice Learning approach.
The first half of the morning the children can roam through
our four supervised rooms freely to explore and expand their
interests. This helps to develop independence and decision-making
skills. Also, two days a week the 3-year-olds and 4-years old
interact together which helps develop their social skills at
many levels. Because we are a small school the children are
able to be given much one-on-one attention. Their environment
is designed to not be overwhelming. This allows the children
to proceed with materials at their own level of development
and readiness. |
|
| The school also excels in dealing with separation
anxiety and kindergarten readiness. All activities and materials
are designed to accommodate a positive learning environment.
The children learn by doing and by acting, rather than by drill
and rote learning. |

The School Term
The school year begins the week of Labor Day and extends through
the third week of May. School is in session from 9:00 AM to
11:30 AM. |
|
Registration
We are currently accepting enrollment for the 3-year-old program
and 4-year-old program. Children must turn three prior to September
1 of the school year and must be fully toilet trained by July
1st of the school year. |
|
| Three-year-olds
attend on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:30 AM.
Four-year-olds attend on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
from 9:00 to 11:30 AM. |
Stay-Days
The option to leave your child in school for an extended day
(until 2:20PM) is available once a week for a small additional
charge. This gives the child a chance to interact over lunch
and expand on their social skills, etc. |
